During the decades from 1964 to 1990 I was fortunate to make a series
of surfing films featuring some of the greatest surfers of those times.
Nat Young, George Greenough in Hot Generation.
Wayne Lynch with Nat and Ted Spencer in Evolution and Sea of Joy.
Reno Abellira in Rob McTavish, Rolling Home.
The Islands covered the fantastic winter season of 1972. Abellira &
Lopez on Oahii, Kauai and Maui.
The World Windsurfing champion Robbie Naish in Blown Away.
And finally the Great Tom Carroll in All Down the Line with Danny Wills
in 1989.
We travelled the world many times during these years and featured some
of the greatest waves on the planet.
We were lucky to work with fine contemporary musicians for the sound tracks
of each film and names like Lindsay Bjerre, Michael Carlos, Michael Atherton,
Mark Eagan and Dennis Nattrass are heavily featured in the music.
It gives me great pleasure to introduce this re-release series - covering
more than twenty five years of dynamic and evolutionary surfing. |

THE
HOT GENERATION
First released in 1968, this film records the peak of the longboard era
and the first transitional moves towards the coming short board revolution.
Particularly featuring McTavish, Young , Greenough, Spencer, Drouyn &
Kevin Brennan – the cutting edge Australian surfers of that generation.

Evolution
The first film classic of the shortboard era. First released in 1970,
the film follows the revolutionary development of surfing’s new
era and features the young Wayne Lynch with Nat and Ted Spencer.
Set on a world stage of Australian, European and Hawaiian locations, the
impact of these upcoming Australian champions on world surfing is hard
to under estimate. |

Sea
of Joy
Now seen as a cult film of the early seventies featuring a soundtrack
combining the music of Tamam Shud and Tully, the film continues the story
of Nat Young & Wayne Lynch through the exploratory first years of
the shortboard era.
Set in Australia, Mauritius, South Africa & Kauai; the film picks
up the idealistic passions then sweeping the planet’s youth, and
expressed in a fusion of film, music and surf. |
